The interpretation
of the word 'exchange' in business life is that of parting with
something in return for it's equivalent. Our interpretation of
the Spirit of Exchange is the giving of Self for the privilege
of serving others; a parting with selfishness and receiving in
return the satisfaction of discharging our duty to our neighbors,
our community and our nation.
The Exchange
Club of Detroit donates funds to the National Exchange Club Foundation
for the Prevention of Child Abuse, which are used to establish
and operate child abuse prevention centers throughout the U.S.
Locally, the club makes contributions to various community based
organizations that work to prevent child abuse and to work with
the victims of child abuse. (See our philanthropy page for a list
of organizations, which have received funds in recent years.)
The Club annually
recognizes and honors outstanding high school seniors through
various scholarship programs.
Because of
it firm belief in patriotism, the Club distributes American flags
to area children at local events, parades, honors area residents
and businesses for faithful and respectful display of the American
flag; installs Freedom Shrine displays consisting of framed copies
of historical documents in schools and public buildings, and honors
local police officers and firefighters with annual recognition
awards.
The Exchange
Club is proud of its more than 90
years of service to the Detroit area and is appreciative of the
continued community support it receives.
The club is
rapidly expanding its membership and is always looking for new
ways to be of service.
